In late January, a team of Akoyans traveled to San Francisco to provide event support for the U.S. Department of Energy Solid-State Lighting program’s 12th annual R&D Workshop. Six months of planning and preparation culminated in the 3-day workshop attended by 300 lighting leaders. In a first for the workshop, a Nobel Prize winner kicked off the activities—2014 Physics Laureate Dr. Shuji Nakamura.
From agenda and tour planning to speaker coordination, from materials development to marketing e-blasts, and from video recording to live tweeting, Akoya played a critical part in ensuring the workshop’s success. But the team won’t rest on its laurels long—as an integral part of the SSL program’s communications efforts, there is year-round marketing support to be done, and the planning for the fall Market Development Workshop is just around the corner.
