| Development and Training
Today, effective development and training programs
target the skills needed by executives and professionals—leadership,
coaching, teaming, communications, and problem-solving. We use
the Akoya approach (link to new page—see below) to deliver
effective training in these key skills—training that will
increase performance and drive change in your organization.
Akoya believes that classroom training alone
can’t take management and leadership skills to a high enough
level. Classroom work must be augmented with real-time mentoring
and coaching on the job, as you help your people face and overcome
their biggest opportunities and challenges.
Before we design a development approach, we ask tough questions
about how the training initiative will be supported. Are procedures,
incentives, and appraisal systems aligned with the new behaviors?
Will executives and managers model and reinforce the behaviors
and skills?
Clicking on the topics below will reveal detail about Akoya training
in the areas of:
Leadership | Back
to Top
Today’s organizational world features changing
roles for managers, supervisors, and staff. We define the skills
required in today’s competitive organizations, and outline
the fundamental shift from the role of ‘supervisor’ to
that of ‘leader’ capable of understanding the vision
for the organization, fulfilling the mission, and developing staff
members to their greatest potential. We use creative techniques
to frame what organizations need in leadership and discuss the
implications of the shift on leaders, staff, and customers.
Coaching:
| Back
to Top
In today's work environment, leaders must create an
environment in which everyone can do the best work and produce
faster and more efficiently with fewer resources. They do this
through coaching—reinforcing the efforts of high performers
while motivating and striving to increase the skill levels of underachievers.
This program addresses the new role of the leader as teacher and
motivator, and explores methods for achieving effective results
in today’s leaner organizations
Customer
Service | Back
to Top
Savvy organizations today realize that customer service
can be a differentiator. How your clients and customers experience
your care and responsiveness makes them come back for more—and
market you to other clients. We all know how it feels to be a customer,
and to receive good or bad service. This program approaches customer
service from the perspective of, "What would I expect
as a customer?" as opposed to, "What additional work will
good customer service mean for me?" Participants examine interaction,
listening, and creative problem-solving skills.
Team
Building and Motivation | Back
to Top
Turf issues and competition for resources between groups
can affect the ability of an organization to be productive. This
program presents the model for a win/win effort in leveraging
resources while integrating processes and systems. It explains the
key elements of persuasion and human motivation, including win/win
negotiations, reenergizing employees, and leading by example. Behaviors
in your culture such as anger, lethargy, and lack of motivation
are ingrained; your people have learned to use them as tools to get the job done. The
trick is to teach employees how to find a bigger win through asking
for help and sharing information.
Critical
Issue Resolution | Back
A critical issue is a
major change or obstacle that impacts all levels and functions within
an organization. These are the kinds of issues that can only be
resolved through a change in mindset and culture. Akoya has developed
a step-by-step process that allows the people affected by a change
to accept and internalize new ways of doing business. This process
helps in overcoming resistance to culture change and opens channels
to new thinking and attitudes.
Effective
Communications | Back
to Top
It can be challenging to find the communication style
that best fits your people, but it’s essential if you’re
going to be a successful coach. This workshop focuses on the specific
skills needed to improve your impact and persuasiveness. In addition,
participants examine listening and creative problem solving, and
practice overcoming problems by thinking “out of the box.”
Stress
Whatever your occupation, there always
seems to be too much to do and too little time to do it. All the while,
the pressure builds and builds. In this workshop, participants
learn the basic physical realities of stress, and tips for balancing
schedules at work and home. You and your people get to kick back
and relax while we put the whole
concept of “stress” into a different perspective.
